Command center established at CEO office Jammu
Jammu, Apr 5: The office of Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, has established a high level Command and Control center at Nirvachan Bhawan, Jammu, to keep a check on cases of paid and fake news in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The center has been equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and functions round-the-clock, ensuring strict and prompt action against any suspected case of fake or paid news.
This center shall serve as the nerve center for general elections 2024, further strengthening the monitoring mechanism on the Union Territory. It is currently monitoring around 21 National TV channels and 6 local TV channels and any attempt to spread false information will be dealt with swiftly and firmly. In addition to media networks, the command center is also keeping a strict vigil on social media channels and accounts to keep a check on spread of fake news.
It is pertinent to mention here that the citizens can also report cases of MCC violations on cVigil app or can directly tag the social media handles of CEO office available on Instagram, Facebook and twitter.
