Colony woes | Dilapidated Mominabad road pesters commuters
Srinagar, Nov 14: Residents of Mominabad Batamaloo here have decried failure of authorities to repair dilapidated major link road in the area.
Residents said that despite the passage of a long time, authorities have failed to repair road at Lane 8 in the area.
They said that the road is in shambles and full of potholes, which gives tough time to commuters and pedestrians. “The road was dug up last year following drainage work. Despite the passing of a year, the road is yet to be repaired. There are huge potholes on the road, which give tough time during downpours and the whole road is full of mud with no macadamisation,” said Bilal Ahmad, a local.
Residents said that despite multiple requests to the authorities, no steps have been taken to fix the roads. They said that drainage work was taken up in adjacent areas as well but that was followed by road work.
“But in our area authorities have left it unattended. We are in ankle-deep mud when we walk on the road. The dilapidated road is taking a toll on us. Despite our repeated requests, the authorities are not addressing the issue,” said another local.
The residents said that they want macadamisation of the road so that they don’t suffer. The locals said that vehicles get stuck in mud.
“We recently had a fire incident in the vicinity and emergency vehicles were unable to navigate through the area. This can be detrimental for us. With the onset of winter, the uneven road will pose risk of injuries to us” said the locals.
