Colder nights, foggy mornings grip Kashmir
Srinagar, Dec 11: Residents across Kashmir experienced a colder night as temperatures dipped further in most parts of the Valley, while shallow fog blanketed several areas on Thursday.
In Srinagar, the minimum temperature fell by a degree from the previous night, settling at minus 2.9 degrees Celsius, which is 2.3 degrees Celsius below normal for this time of year, officials said.
Qazigund in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 3.2 degrees Celsius, a drop of 1.6 degrees Celsius from the previous night.
In north Kashmir, Kupwara registered minus 4.2 degrees Celsius, while Kokernag in south Kashmir recorded minus 1.2 degrees Celsius.
Tourist resort Pahalgam saw temperatures fall to minus 4.6 degrees Celsius, a decline of a degree.
In contrast, ski resort Gulmarg recorded a slight rise, with the minimum temperature increasing by 1.5 degrees Celsius to 0 degrees Celsius.
Pulwama and Shopian, in south Kashmir, were the coldest places in J&K, each recording a low of minus 5.2 degrees, officials said.
