CM Omar's dig at PDP, PC; says facilitators of BJP pointing fingers at me
Jammu, Apr 09: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Wednesday took an oblique dig at the PDP and the Peoples Conference for their adverse remarks against him in the House during the past three days amid uproar over Waqf Amendment Act.
He was speaking to the media outside the Legislature complex after reaching the Civil Secretariat almost half an hour after the House was adjourned sine die.
With regard to uproar regarding Waqf Amendment Act in the House, the Chief Minister said that majority of the Members in the House wanted to share their concern and reflect the sentiments of people of only Muslim majority state in the country.
"Unfortunately they couldn't get an opportunity to do so. Anyway the spokesperson or the President of the National Conference will brief as what will be the party's next course of action on this account (Act)," he said.
He said that in the House, some unpleasant remarks were made against him by few members in his absence.
"They, who while sitting in lap of BJP had talked about distribution of milk and toffees and destroyed J&K; those, who befooled youth of J&K by distributing cricket bats and forcibly took them to the rally of the then Union Home Minister, spoke against me," he said.
CM Omar said that they, who facilitated BJP's entry into J&K and so far did not apologise for 2016 killings, were criticising him.
He also defended his "Tulip Garden pictures" with the Union Minister, describing it as a "chance meeting", while responding to opposition's barbs aimed at him, in his absence in the House.
Later, the NC spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, joined by all party legislators in a brief presser outside the legislature complex, stated that the party would go to court against the Waqf Amendment Act.
