CM Omar apprises Nitin Gadkari about J&K road projects
New Delhi, Oct 24: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari at his office in the national capital on Thursday and discussed the ongoing road infrastructure projects in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, Abdullah apprised Gadkari about the road projects in J&K, the officials said.
They said that the meeting focused on the expansion of road infrastructure and strategic highway projects.
CM Omar expressed the need for accelerating the ongoing projects, especially those aimed at improving connectivity in the rural areas and the hinterlands, officials said.
They said that improvement in transport facilities across the J&K was also discussed during the meeting.
Officials said that the union minister assured the CM Omar of the Centre’s plan to develop J&K.
They said that Gadkari emphasised the importance of infrastructure in boosting economic growth in the region and termed the ongoing projects as a game-changer for connectivity with the rest of the country.
Earlier, CM Omar presented Gadkari with a traditional Kashmiri shawl.
