CM Omar Abdullah to review functioning of Law, subordinate deptts today
Jammu, Dec 9: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will review the functioning of the Department of Law and other allied departments in a meeting at the Civil Secretariat tomorrow.
“Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will chair a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat here to review the functioning of the Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs at 11 am,” official sources said.
The charge of the Department of Finance, Revenue and Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs besides GAD (and a few other departments) is with the Chief Minister.
On December 3, CM Omar reviewed the functioning of the General Administration Department (GAD) in a similar high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu.
Review meetings, officially speaking, give a fair idea of the functioning of crucial departments and critical aspects which need overhaul or tweaks for smoother and public-friendly administration. These become imperative before taking any policy decision or effecting transfers.
While chairing a meeting to review GAD working, the Chief Minister discussed the functioning of the J&K Public Service Commission, J&K Service Selection Board, promotions, cadre management, training, transfers, IT initiatives and other administrative matters.
Among major decisions, he had banned re-employment, extensions, additional charges, and attachments, except in extraordinary circumstances.
