CM Omar Abdullah inaugurates Kashmir Marathon Expo

Srinagar, Oct 31: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday inaugurated the Kashmir Marathon Exhibition in Srinagar, terming it a welcome initiative to promote fitness, sports, and tourism in the region.

Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the event, Omar said that such expos alongside major sporting events enhance the overall experience for athletes and participants. “With big events, it is tried that athletes get a good experience. The same thing happened when I took part in Delhi’s half marathon. I saw a similar expo there, and people who take part in such events enjoy it a lot,” he said.

He added that the marathon and the associated exhibition offered visitors a glimpse into Jammu and Kashmir’s rich culture, handicrafts, and adventure sports. “It is good that there is an expo here along with the Kashmir marathon. Many participants have come from outside J&K, and through this event, they get to see our tourism and handicraft sectors. I hope this helps promote our region further,” Omar said.

The Kashmir Marathon Exhibition, held as part of the upcoming marathon event, featured stalls on sports gear, adventure tourism, and local crafts.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister inspected various stalls and counters set up by different government departments, private sports firms and event partners.

Notably, earlier this week, the Chief Minister had unveiled the official merchandise of the Kashmir Marathon–2025 at Royal Springs Golf Course.

On the inaugural occasion, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Director Tourism Kashmir Raja Yaqoob and other senior officers were present.
