Srinagar, Oct 21: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday called for a collective commitment to peace.

Leading a solemn ceremony at the Police Memorial at Zewan on the outskirts of Srinagar to mark the Police Commemoration Day, CM Omar paid rich tributes to the Police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The event, observed annually across the country on October 21, honours the Police personnel who lost their lives while serving the nation.

This year’s commemoration at Zewan was marked by dignity, remembrance, and a renewed commitment to peace.

Accompanied by senior members of his cabinet, including Sakina Itoo and Javid Ahmad Dar, as well as Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, CM Omar laid floral wreaths at the memorial, standing in solemn silence to pay his respect.

Members of the Legislative Assembly also participated in the wreath-laying ceremony, offering their respects to the fallen Police personnel and reaffirming their support for the Police force and their families.

Following the official tribute, CM Omar, who was also the guest of honour, visited a blood donation camp organised on the sidelines of the ceremony.

The camp was part of a series of commemorative events aimed at promoting community welfare and service in the spirit and legacy of the Police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The CM interacted with the volunteers participating in the blood donation drive, commending their humanitarian efforts and selfless commitment.

“Such acts of kindness reflect the true spirit of public service and solidarity with our brave personnel,” he said.
