Cloudburst hits Thathri town
Bhaderwah, June 28: Flash floods triggered by a cloudburst wreaked havoc in Thathri market of Doda district this morning, inundating vast areas along the Batote-Kishtwar National Highway. However no injury or loss of life was reported so far.
The cloudburst followed by flashfloods at 3 am in the morning resulted in huge mudslides that entered in the entire market area of Thathri town and couple of residential houses on Batote-Kishtwar NH 244 beside some parked vehicles also got trapped in the debris.
When contacted SDM, Thathri Masood Ahmed Bichoo said, "Although the mudslide caused by the sudden cloudburst was huge but luckily the flashfloods struck near Army gate, which is less populated. Although heaps of mud and debris into entire market area but there was no major loss and we started restoration work at 4 am."
"As of now, traffic has been partially restored on the highway and by afternoon all the debris will be cleared from the market area," SDM added.
It is notable here to mention that on July 20, 2017 cloudbrust wrecked havoc in Thathri town in which one dozen structures near Jamia Masjid got washed away and several people received injuries.
