Cleanliness drive held at Padshahpal area
Srinagar, Aug 2: Locals from various habitations of Harwan participated in a cleanliness drive at Padshahpal area.
People from Dara, Chek-Dara, Nagbal, Dardkhover, Gundtal, New-theed, Darbagh, Saidpora, Muftibagh, Barji participated in the drive. On the occasion, they cleaned Maloori Nalla as most of the garbage is being thrown into it by the people visiting Padshahpal and its adjoining areas.
The locals said Maloori Nalla is the lone source of drinking water to more than 4000 households. The locals coordinated by Dara Environment Action Committee and Phaag Forum have launched a campaign to save water bodies.
“We are equally concerned about the plight of water bodies. The purpose of the initiative is to create awareness among the locals and to motivate them to come forward for preservation and maintaining the glory of water bodies in the valley,” they said.
Besides locals, Officials from Forest Protection Force, Wildlife Department, Soil Conservation Department, Social Forestry Department and Rural Development Department also took part in the today's cleanliness drive in Padshahpal area.
