Class 12th annual BOSE exams in soft zones today

Srinagar, Mar 5:  The annual (Regular 2024) examination of class 12th students will commence on Wednesday (March 6) in the soft zone areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

The date sheet for the annual regular 2024 examination of class 10th to 12th students in soft zone areas was notified in January this year.

As per the date sheet issued by the Director Academics, Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) Sudhir Singh, the examination of class 12th students in soft zone areas would commence on March 6, 2024, and culminate on March 28.

The examination of class 10th students was supposed to commence on March 7, 2024.

However, the examination of vocational subjects slated for March 7 has been postponed in soft zone areas.

The examination of class 11th students in soft zone areas will commence on March 30, 2024, and culminate on April 25.

Talking to Greater Kashmir, Director Academics BOSE Sudhir Singh said that all the arrangements had been finalised to facilitate the successful conclusion of examinations.

As per the official figures, around 1,05,949 students have registered for the class 12th exams – 96,460 candidates in soft zones and 9489 students in hard zones.

The BOSE has set up 818 exam centres in all hard and soft zones of J&K for the class 12th examination across Jammu and Kashmir.

Singh said that all the superintendents and overall incharges of annual examinations have been asked to ensure that no ineligible candidate appears at their centres and the exam is conducted fairly.

“The concerned examination staff will ensure that children with special needs are given due support as is envisaged under rules and minimum basic facilities are provided to all the examinees by the overall in-charge,” he said.

Singh said that the staff had been advised to take every possible step to inform the examinees about the precautions to be taken during the examination to prevent any such situation which might prove challenging for their academic career.

This year, the BOSE tagged “on-roll” students of over 200 private academic institutions of Kashmir operating on proprietary land with “expired affiliations”.

The decision was taken amid stiff opposition from the private school proprietors against the shifting of students from private to government schools.

However, the BOSE justified its decision citing that all these schools failed to furnish their extension case file which prompted the BOSE to tag the students of these institutions with the nearby government schools.

As per the BOSE order, the affiliation of these private academic institutions of Kashmir division expired in October 2021 and 2022, coupled with the failure of the concerned management to submit the requisite case files for further extension with necessary certificates, and safety documents, in terms of standing rules and norms.

Further, the “defaulter” schools, as per the order were “admonished” not to enrol any students in classes 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th from the next academic session 2024-2025, without securing formal affiliation and recognition from the BOSE and the School Education Department (SED).

Notably, the BOSE has already notified the date sheet for hard zone areas.

The examination of class 10th students in hard zone areas would commence on April 4, 2024, and would culminate on May 6, 2024.

Similarly, the examination of class 11th students in hard zone areas would commence on April 12, 2024, and culminate on May 16.

Also, the examination of class 12th students would commence on April 8, 2024, and culminate on May 11, 2024.
