Civil Society Sopore elects chairman

Sopore, May 27: Aashiq Hussain Zaki has been elected as the Chairman of Civil Society Sopore.

Zaki, a well-known social activist from Sopore, has been at the forefront of numerous social causes, including the fight against substance abuse, promoting mental health, and suicide prevention.

The chairman’s election was held in the town on Sunday in which out of 45 votes polled out from total 46 votes, Ashiq Hussain Zaki got 34 votes while his opponent Haji Mohammad Ashraf Bhat got only 11 votes. Zaki managed to emerge victorious and became chairman of civil society Sopore for next two years.

Civil Society Sopore is an active, vibrant and an outstanding social organisation of the historic town.It works to raise awareness of its programmes for betterment and well-being of the society on one hand, and on the other hand, it also takes up the problems of the people in the best possible way to higher authorities.
