Citing technicalities, experts urge Govt to rethink delaying Class 11 exams to March
Srinagar, Oct 31: The academicians have urged the National Conference (NC)-led government to reconsider the decision to defer the restoration of the November session for class 11th students to next year.
The feedback has come a day after the government announced the restoration of the November session for schools up to class 9th from the current academic session.
The academicians, while citing technicalities, said that holding the class 11th annual exam in March would create academic issues for the same batch while applying for various competitive exams including NEET, after passing the class 12th examination.
A senior academician said that holding the class 11th annual exam of students in March 2025 will leave the scope of less than six months for the same batch of students for their class 12th annual exam in the same year.
“It will be a disaster. Getting just less than six months for the class 12th exam will be problematic for the students,” he said.
The academician said that another technical problem associated with the issue was that holding class 11th and 12th exams of the same batch in the same year would create eligibility issues in the NEET exam for the students.
“NEET says that there should be a minimum of over six months of gap between two exams. However, after holding class 11th exams
in March and April for soft zone and hard zone areas, the result will be declared in May or June. It will create issues for the students,” he said.
The experts said that the department should reconsider the decision and try to conduct the class 11th annual exam in November or December which would keep students at ease during their class 12th exams.
Meanwhile, a top official said that the restoration of the November exam session for class 11th students was deferred to next year as the students had not completed their syllabus.
“If we will hold their exam in November or early December, we will have to curtail the syllabus, which will not be a good decision,” the official said.
