Awantipora, Dec 9: The Centre for International Relations (CIR) organised an interactive lecture under its CIR Coaching Initiative titled “Conversations with Civil Servants.” The event was attended by the Registrar, Prof. Abdul Wahid Mukhdoomi, along with several Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and students of the University.

The Vice Chancellor of IUST, Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, who chaired the session, highlighted the University’s dual responsibility to uphold academic excellence while supporting students’ career aspirations. He affirmed that the CIR Coaching Initiative exemplifies the University’s commitment to advancing skill development and fostering career preparedness among students.

The invited speaker, Athar Aamir Khan, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, shared reflections on his civil services journey and underscored the value of initiating civil services preparation during university years, noting that they provide both a robust academic foundation and an enabling environment for such a demanding pursuit.

In his remarks, the Head of the Department, Dr Syed Jaleel Hussain, highlighted the need to create avenues that guide students in both their academic pursuits and career aspirations.

A lively Q&A session followed, during which students interacted with the speaker and posed questions regarding effective strategies and pathways for civil services preparation.

The session was moderated by Shazana Andrabi, and the Vote of Thanks was offered by Dr Urba Malik.
