Srinagar, Jan 6: A delegation of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Jammu and Kashmir, led by its Vice Chairman Iqram Ali Shafiee, called on Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, to discuss strengthening industry–government collaboration for sustainable development in the region.

During the meeting, Shafiee submitted a detailed proposal on behalf of CII for a strategic partnership with Srinagar Smart City Limited. The proposal seeks to position Srinagar as a leading sustainable hill city through the adoption of the globally benchmarked IGBC Green Hill Habitat Rating System.

The proposed initiative focuses on capacity building, feasibility assessments and the implementation of green measures aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with the objective of promoting environmentally responsible urban growth.

In addition to the sustainability proposal, the CII delegation held discussions with the Divisional Commissioner on several issues affecting local industry, with an emphasis on improving the business environment and supporting economic growth in J&K.

CII reiterated its commitment to contributing to the development of the Union Territory and expressed readiness to work closely with Srinagar Smart City Limited and the government to advance the proposed green city initiative for a more resilient and sustainable future.
