Chugh launches BJP by-poll campaign in Ludhiana, targets AAP governance
Ludhiana, Jun 1: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh launched the party’s campaign for the Ludhiana West Assembly by-poll today, urging voters to reject what he called the "theatrical" governance of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab. Chugh met BJP candidate Jeewan Gupta and described the by-poll as a crucial test for Punjab, which he said is grappling with poor governance, rising debt, and a deteriorating law and order situation under the AAP government.
He accused the AAP administration of driving away investors and failing to deliver on job promises, claiming Ludhiana’s industrial backbone is crumbling due to lack of infrastructure and increasing crime and drug abuse.
Chugh also criticised Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, calling him a figurehead under Arvind Kejriwal’s influence, and predicted AAP’s downfall in the 2027 state elections. Candidate Jeewan Gupta expressed gratitude to the party and said he was committed to raising public concerns, particularly those of the business community, which he said is struggling in the absence of a clear industrial policy.
