Choudhary Piara Singh passes away
Jammu, Dec 2: Senior J&K Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Choudhary Piara Singh passed away on Monday.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, while sharing his grief over the sad demise of senior political leader and ex MLA, also expressed condolences to the family.
Choudhary Piara Singh represented BJP in J&K Legislative Assembly from 1996 to 2002 from Gandhinagar assembly segment.
In 1996 assembly elections, he (Choudhary Piara Singh) had defeated National Conference (NC) candidate Harbans Singh.
Present BJP MLA from Bahu constituency (erstwhile Gandhinagar assembly segment), Vikram Randhawa is son of Choudhary Piara Singh.
According to family sources, the last rites of the ex MLA will be performed tomorrow.
The death of former MLA, who commanded great respect across Jammu region, particularly in his community for his contribution to uplift underprivileged members of the society, has been widely mourned in political and social circles.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has also expressed grief over the sad demise of senior political leader and former Member of Legislative Assembly Choudhary Piara Singh.
In a condolence message, the Lieutenant Governor said, “I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing away of Ch Piara Singh Ji. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. I pray for peace for the departed soul.”
BJP leaders too have condoled the demise of their veteran leader and described it as an irreparable loss for the party as well. Recalling his services as an eloquent public representative, they shared their heartfelt condolences with the family, including MLA Vikram Randhawa and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
