Chinar Corps Commander reviews security scenario in Warwan Valley
Srinagar, May 28: In a significant outreach and operational review, the Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava undertook a visit to the remote Warwan Valley region, where he assessed the prevailing security arrangements and interacted extensively with the local populace.
During the visit, the Corps Commander lauded the troops deployed in the area for their unwavering dedication, professionalism, and round-the-clock vigilance under challenging terrain and weather conditions. He stressed the critical importance of maintaining high operational alertness to counter any potential threats and ensure the continued safety of the region.
Warwan Valley, nestled in the upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, remains one of the more isolated regions, often facing connectivity and logistical challenges. Recognising this, the Commander emphasised the dual role of the Army—not just as a security provider but also as a reliable pillar of support to the civil population.
Engaging directly with village elders, youth representatives, and women from the community, the Corps Commander listened attentively to their concerns regarding road connectivity, education facilities, healthcare access, and employment opportunities. He assured them of continued assistance through the Army’s civic action initiatives under Operation Sadbhavana, reaffirming the Army’s commitment to people-centric development in far-flung areas.
Army units deployed in Warwan have been proactive in carrying out various welfare programmes, including medical camps, skill development workshops, and infrastructure support in the region. The local community expressed appreciation for the Indian Army’s sustained engagement, particularly in the harsh winter months when the region remains cut off due to heavy snowfall.
“Chinar Corps Commander reviewed security arrangements in the Warwan Valley region and engaged with locals to address their concerns as well as to gather insights. Commending troops for their unwavering dedication, he emphasised upon the need for continued vigilance for safeguarding the area as well as to render assistance to civil community in the remote region.#Kashmir@adgpi @NorthernComd_IA-,” Chinar Corps- Indian Army said in a tweet.
