The security review aligns with recent directives issued by Union Home Secretary during a high-level meeting here where he called for foolproof security arrangements and top-of-the-line facilities for pilgrims. He directed central and state security agencies to work in seamless coordination, stressing that the safety and convenience of the expected influx of pilgrims — estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands — is paramount. The Jammu and Kashmir administration, in conjunction with the Indian Army, CRPF, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and intelligence agencies, has devised a multi-layered security grid for the Yatra. The Key checkpoints, aerial surveillance using drones, quick reaction teams (QRTs), and deployment of additional troops in vulnerable areas are among the measures being implemented.
