Children, aid seekers among 105 Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza
Srinagar, Sept 03: At least 105 Palestinians including aid seekers and children were killed in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, with heavy bombardment targeting densely populated areas, reports said.
The al-Sabra neighbourhood, which has faced sustained attacks for several days, was among the hardest hit. At least 32 of the victims reportedly died while attempting to access aid.
At least 21 people, including seven children, were struck by an Israeli drone while queuing for water in the al-Mawasi area near Khan Younis in southern Gaza, reported Al Jazeera.
Images shared online by Palestinian Civil Defence spokesperson Mahmoud Basal depicted the aftermath of the attack, showing blood-stained water containers and the bodies of children at a site previously designated by Israel as a so-called “safe zone.”
“They were standing in line to fill water … when the occupation forces directly targeted them, turning their search for life into a new massacre,” Basal said on Tuesday.
According to reports, the attack occurred shortly after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) urged residents to evacuate Gaza City and relocate to al-Mawasi, ahead of an anticipated ground invasion. The Israeli military has been pushing for the displacement of civilians from the city, claiming that southern Gaza—particularly al-Mawasi—would be able to accommodate them.
Palestinians are struggling to survive the dual threats of targeted attacks and starvation, with at least 13 people dying of starvation in the past 24 hours, bringing the total hunger-related death toll since the war began to 361, as per reports.
Eighty-three of those deaths have been recorded since a global hunger monitor confirmed famine conditions in Gaza on August 22.
Journalists Rasmi Salem of Al-Manara and Eman al-Zamli were also killed in the latest Israeli attacks on Gaza, raising the total number of media workers killed since October 7, 2023, to over 270.
