Chief Secretary orders swift action on delay in SSRB’s 3300 recruitments
Jammu, Nov 14: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo Thursday ordered swift action on the delay in the recruitment of around 3300 jobs.
Chairing a meeting of the General Administration Department (GAD) to take stock of the recruitment process undertaken by the Services Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB) referred by different government departments here, the chief secretary took this occasion to impress upon the SSRB to make the recruitment process time-bound.
He asked for making annual calendars of the recruitment process so that candidates have a clear idea about it and prepare accordingly without facing any uncertainties.
Dulloo also enjoined upon the indenting departments to refer the vacancies with clear-cut recruitment rules and position of vacancies as per the reservation rules and other necessary clarifications.
He stressed the indenting departments to clarify the issues regarding experience and technical qualifications pointed out by the board forthwith so that the posts referred to it are advertised without any further delay.
The chief secretary urged the concerned departments to update their recruitment rules in consultation with the ARI and Training Department for the speedy culmination of the selection process.
He also advised the Law Department and the SSRB to make the indenting departments well-versed with the rules and formats for making clarification process swift and less cumbersome for them.
Some of the posts yet to be advertised include 1336 posts of the Home Department, 415 of the Health and Medical Education Department, 314 of Jal Shakti, 292 of PDD, 222 of Industries and Commerce, 177 of Public Works (R&B), 185 of Agriculture, 129 of Forest, 73 of Higher Education, 38 of Revenue, 61 of Transport, and those of other departments.
On the occasion, SSRB Chairperson Indu Kanwal Chib besides giving an overview of the ongoing recruitment process of the board also detailed out few of the hiccups stalling advertisement of certain vacancies referred by different departments.
She said that the board had sought certain clarifications from indenting departments regarding break-up of posts under horizontal and vertical reservations, availability and updation of recruitment rules, recognition status of certain outside institutions and competent authority to issue experience certificates and in some cases the mandatory financial concurrence of the posts to be advertised.
Chib said that many of the posts were fit for advertisement and would be notified shortly and those against whom the clarifications had been sought would also be filled once the clarifications were received by the board.
She said that since 2019, the board had made 22,624 selections and was in the process of finalising selections for another 874 posts.
The SSRB chairperson said that a competitive examination for 4921 posts was going to be held in the coming weeks.
She apprised the meeting that around 3299 posts were available with the board for advertisement.
Chib said that clarifications regarding many of them had been sought from the indenting departments while some were entangled in legal battles in the court of law.
Principal Secretary, Home; Principal Secretary, PDD; Principal Secretary, School Education; Commissioner Secretary, GAD; Commissioner Secretary, S&T; Commissioner Secretary, Tourism; Secretary, Health; Secretary, Information; Secretary, YS&S; Secretary, Cooperatives; Secretary, ARI and Trainings; and Chairperson, SSRB were also present on the occasion besides the representatives from other concerned departments.
