Chargesheet filed in fake government job fraud case in Awantipora: Police

Srinagar, Mar 2: Police Station Awantipora has filed a charge sheet in FIR No. 09/2026 under Sections 318(4), 61(2), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) before the Court of the Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Awantipora, in a case pertaining to cheating and fraud on the false pretext of providing a government job.

The accused persons have been identified as Showkat Ahmad Dar, son of Gh. Mohd Dar @ Mom Dar, resident of Panzgam and Aijaz Ahmad Shah, son of Ali Mohd Shah, resident of Tral Payeen.

As per a police press release, during investigation, it was established that the accused induced the complainant to part with Rs 7,00,000 by falsely assuring appointment in a government department. The investigation, supported by bank transaction records and documentary evidence etc, has substantiated the involvement of the accused persons.
