Chaos in Bandipora schools as teachers fail to mark online attendance
Srinagar, July 31: The teachers in Bandipora district on Wednesday were taken aback after they were unable to register their attendance upon reaching their respective schools.
The move created chaos and confusion among the teaching staff of different schools as the teachers were apprehensive about being marked as absent despite reporting to their respective institutions on time.
Amid the chaos and confusion, the teachers were conveyed that their online attendance was shifted to other schools.
“Around 80 teachers have been transferred to new postings without issuing any formal orders from the Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Bandipora. This abrupt shift left many teachers and Heads of Institutions (HOIs) surprised,” an aggrieved teacher told Greater Kashmir.
The teachers, who were not informed about their transfers, expressed their frustration over this mid-session displacement carried out without any consultation with the HOIs.
“This practice has become routine in the district and is disrupting the education system in the schools. There is a lack of communication within the system,” another teacher said.
Several HOIs have written to the CEO urging him to halt this practice that has negatively impacted the education of students.
The heads of the institutions have stated that some schools already having surplus staff have been provided extra teachers, while the schools with higher student enrollments have been left understaffed.
“This uneven distribution of teachers is causing significant disruption in the education process. Shifting online attendance to other schools without issuing formal orders has aggravated the situation,” the teachers said.
While the teachers have joined their new place of postings, confusion and chaos looms over the functioning of the education sector in the district.
The outgoing Chief Education Officer (CEO) Bandipora G M Pujoo was not available for his comments despite repeated attempts.
