Chanderkote reverberates with Nohas
Ramban, July, 17: Hundreds of mourners participated in the Ashura procession that was taken out from Imam Bargah, Ali Nagar, Kunfer, Chanderkote, a village dominated by Shias in Ramban district on Wednesday.
The procession commenced from Imam Bargah Chanderkote under the patronage of Anjuman-e-Imamia Ali Nagar, Kunfer, Chanderkote.
A Zuljana, an Alam, and a Tazia procession were taken out from Imam Bargah Chanderkote in which hundreds of mourners including young, elderly, children, and Ulemas participated.
The procession passed through the main market's old alignment of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway and culminated at “symbolic Karbala”.
The religious leaders from various schools of thought while addressing the gathering at Imam Bargah, threw light on the martyrdom of Imam Husain (AS) and his 72 companions who sacrificed their lives in 680 CE in Karbala.
They also paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Karbala and Imam Husain (AS).
They said Ashura symbolises the struggle against cruelty, injustice, and oppression.
The mourners in the procession recited elegies (Marsias and Nohas) and beat their chests during the procession.
Sham-e-Greeba was also held in the evening in which Maulana Syed Rahat Abbas Naqvi threw light on the sufferings of Imam Husain (AS).
They described the martyrdom of Imam Husain (AS) and his companions as the turning point and revival of Islam in 60 AH.
He also emphasised Muslims develop the character of Imam Husain (AS).
The district administration has made proper arrangements for security including medical aid, electricity, water supply, and cleanliness in Chanderkote.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ramban, Basheer-ul-Haq Choudhary; Additional SP, Gaurav Mahajan; ADC, Varunjeet Singh Charak; ACR, Tehsildar, doctors and other officers remain present during the procession which concludes in the evening.
The civil and Police administration in Ramban had made foolproof security and other necessary arrangements.
