Chairperson FADA meets CM Omar Abdullah
Srinagar, Mar 6: Chairperson of the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) Jammu, Sanjay Aggarwal led a delegation in a meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to address key issues facing automobile dealers in the region.
The delegation, which included FADA Jammu Regional Directors, discussed various challenges, including the emergence of unauthorized sales channels undermining legitimate dealers, the need for tax incentives under the Vehicle Scrappage Policy, and exemptions on road tax for hybrid vehicles to support green initiatives.
Aggarwal emphasised the importance of establishing an Automobile Service Center Cluster to enhance industry support, raised concerns over double taxation from GST on road tax, and pointed out the lack of EV charging infrastructure in Jammu, despite its inclusion in the Smart City initiative. He also highlighted the problem of end-of-life vehicles being re-registered in J&K and urged the government to take action against this practice. Additionally, he proposed organizing Mega Trade Fairs to promote the automobile sector through registration discounts.
Chief Minister Abdullah acknowledged the delegation's concerns and assured that their recommendations would be considered in the upcoming J&K budget.
