Chief Education Officer (CEO) Anantnag said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of school children.

“In view of the inclement weather conditions and the advisory issued by the Department of Meteorology, all permissions granted by this office regarding school picnics and excursions scheduled till September 11 stand canceled with immediate effect,” the CEO said in the order. “The cancellation must be implemented in letter and spirit.”

Copies of the order have been forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner Anantnag and the Director of School Education in Kashmir for information. It has also been circulated to all principals of higher secondary schools, zonal education officers, headmasters of high schools, and heads of private schools for compliance.

Officials said the move comes in anticipation of heavy rainfall over the coming days that could disrupt travel and pose risks to students.
