Centre approves 13 new Kendriya Vidyalayas for J&K
Srinagar, Dec 07: The Centre has approved establishment of 13 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) in Jammu and Kashmir to improve access to education in the region, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said today.
“The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by PM Modi, has approved opening of 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) under civil/defence sector across the country and expansion of one existing KV,” read an official handout.
The new KVs will be set up in Gool, Ramban, Bani and Ramkote in Kathua district, Reasi and Kakriyal Katra, Mughal Maidan (Kishtwar), Gulpur (Poonch), Vijaypur (Samba), and Panchari (Udhampur).
In the Kashmir valley, the KVs will be established in Drugmulla (Kupwara), Ratnipora, and Galander Chandhara (Pulwama).
The opening of these new Kendriya Vidyalayas will provide an opportunity for over 82,000 students to receive affordable and high-quality education across the country.
Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving new KVs.
"Thanks PM Sh @narendramodi ji for giving special consideration to JammuAndKashmir. Union Cabinet approves 13 new KendriyaVidyalayas for different locations across J&K, out of which over 50% fall in Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency," he said, in a post on X.
