Central University of Kashmir celebrates World Food Day
Ganderbal, Oct 16: The Department of Tourism Studies at the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organised an event titled "Food Tourism and Health: A Possible Synergy towards Sustainable Nutrition" to celebrate World Food Day.
In his address, Prof (Dr) Fayaz Ahmed Nika, Dean of the School of Business Studies, emphasized the importance of being responsible consumers and understanding food safety.
Dr Ashaq Hussain Najar, Coordinator and Senior Assistant Professor, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the significance of the day.
Keynote speaker Shabir Hussain Bhat, Director of Rural Development, Kashmir, highlighted the vital connection between tourism and local cuisines. He stated, "Food is a powerful tool in destination marketing. It offers a unique cultural experience and plays a significant role in attracting tourists to specific regions."
Dr. Nadia, Food & Safety Inspector for Ganderbal, emphasized, "Promoting health through food tourism means ensuring that the food served to tourists meets safety and nutritional standards, benefiting both tourists and local communities."
The proceedings were conducted by Dr Shahnaz Akhter, Senior Assistant Professor, and Dr Abid Suhail Nika, Assistant Professor, proposed the vote of thanks.
