New Delhi, Dec 11: The Government of India has approved a major extension in the central deputation tenure of Amit Sharma (AGMUT:2012), presently serving as DCO/DCR for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, extending his term until March 31, 2030.
According to an official memorandum issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the Competent Authority has sanctioned the extension of Sharma’s deputation period beyond December 31, 2025, up to March 31, 2030. The order further states that the tenure may be extended beyond that period as per norms under the Central Staffing Scheme.
The order reads that Amit Sharma has been on central deputation since November 24, 2025, and the extension has been approved following a proposal referenced by the Office of the Registrar General of India (RGI) dated December 10, 2025.
He is expected to play a key role in overseeing the country’s first-ever digital and paperless Census, a significant national exercise that he will help conduct in his home region.
