Kupwara, Aug 09: The administration in the border town Karnah of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district has banned the use of cell phones by teachers in schools and directed them to keep their phones off during working hours.

The step has been taken to increase focus and discipline within classrooms.

An official communiqué by Sub Divisional Magistrate Karnah, Zaffar Ahmed Lone said, “It is impressed upon the Head of the educational institutions (Government Higher Secondary Schools, Government High Schools, Government Middle Schools, and Government Primary Schools) of Karnah subdivision that all the teaching faculty in the educational institutions should keep their mobile phones switched off during working hours."

It said that only heads of the institutions are permitted to keep their mobile phones active during school hours to receive relevant communications whenever required.

“Any violation of these instructions will result in disciplinary action under relevant laws,” the communiqué said.

Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Tangdar and cluster heads have been tasked to oversee the implementation of this policy across all educational institutions in the subdivision.
