CEEO India launches Sushma Swaraj School of Excellence in Budgam
Budgam, Aug 6: On the sixth death anniversary of former Union Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, the Cultural Educational and Environmental Organisation (CEEO) India on Tuesday announced the establishment of the Sushma Swaraj School of Excellence in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
A statement of the CEEO India issued here said that the initiative aims to promote women’s empowerment and leadership development in the region.
It said that the school will focus on education, skill-building, entrepreneurship, and foreign policy awareness.
“Sushma Swaraj was not merely a politician. She was a global stateswoman whose compassionate diplomacy connected India with the world,” Country Director of CEEO India Subhrangshu Sanyal said. “This school is our pledge to foster a new generation of women leaders who will carry forward her legacy on the global stage.”
The statement said that known for her proactive approach as India’s External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj earned acclaim for making the ministry more accessible to citizens, often using social media to help distressed Indians abroad.
It said that she was widely respected for humanitarian diplomacy and for articulating India’s position on key global issues.
CEEO India officials said that the school would provide programmes tailored for women and girls in Kashmir, to create informed citizens capable of contributing to India’s soft power and international engagement.
“Kashmir was very close to her heart. Every time we met her in Delhi, we felt her warmth and guidance,” an official of the CEEO India said. “Her belief in the potential of this region was absolute.”
The organisation also highlighted Sushma Swaraj’s role in strengthening India’s ties with countries like Iran and her outreach to the Shia community, calling it a significant diplomatic achievement.
“The Sushma Swaraj School of Excellence is expected to start operations soon,” CEEO India said. “The initiative will be a transformative force in empowering women and shaping global perspectives from Budgam.”
