CEC Kargil visits eastern portal of Zojila Tunnel
Kargil, Nov 11: Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil, Dr Mohammad Jaffer Akhoon on Saturday visited eastern portal of Zojila to take assessment of the pace of construction works.
During the visit, the CEC was informed that the work on Zojila Tunnel is undergoing on war footing basis. Till date pertaining to the head excavation works, from the eastern portal 3.7 kms have been completed
and on the western portal 3.8 kms of excavation work has been completed besides the total length of the tunnel is 13.15 km.
The CEC expressed satisfaction and happiness over the pace of works and applauded the immense efforts taken by the concerned executing agency and their workers for their hard work and relentless services in making execution of this long pending dream of people of Ladakh.
He also expressed sincere gratitude to Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, Nitin Gadkari for taking keen interest in the construction of Zojila Tunnel and expressed hope that under his able leadership the tunnel works will be completed at the earliest.
CEC also expressed gratitude to Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited and NHIDCL for extending their efforts in the completion of the project. CEC Kargil also met the workers of NHIDCL working at the Eastern Portal of the tunnel and wished them Happy Diwali. He advised them to continue their efforts to complete the tunnel. Concerned officers of NHIDCL accompanied the CEC during the visit.
