Jammu, May 3: Indian Army Saturday responded promptly and in equal measure as Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Akhnoor sector for the fifth consecutive day.

During the night of May 2 and 3, 2025, Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked small-arms fire across the Line of Control opposite the Akhnoor areas of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, PRO Defence Jammu, Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said.

He, however, said, ìIndian Army responded promptly and proportionately.

On Friday night, the Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked firing in the Poonch, Nowshera and Akhnoor sectors and it was responded to, in a befitting manner, by the Indian Army.

Prior to it, an exchange of fire between two sides in Akhnoor had taken place during the nights of May 1, April 30 and April 29 also.

On the night of April 30 and May 1, 2025, the Pakistan Army targeted across the Line of Control opposite the Nowshera, and Sunderbani sectors also and across the International Border in the Pargwal sector of the Jammu region.

Two sides had exchanged fire on April 27 and 28 nights along LoC across areas opposite Poonch.
