CDS releases declassified joint doctrines on cyberspace, amphibious operations
New Delhi, Aug 7: In a step towards enhancing joint war-fighting capabilities, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, who also serves as Secretary, Department of Military Affairs, formally released the declassified versions of two key military doctrines, the Joint Doctrine for Cyberspace Operations and the Joint Doctrine for Amphibious Operations, during the Chiefs of Staff Committee meeting held in the New Delhi.
The release marks an important move towards increasing transparency and broader dissemination of India's military operational concepts, enabling greater visibility, accessibility, and understanding among stakeholders, planners, and policymakers.
Cyberspace Operations Doctrine
The Joint Doctrine for Cyberspace Operations lays out a coordinated approach for securing national interests in the digital domain. It integrates defensive and offensive cyber capabilities, promotes real-time intelligence sharing, and focuses on threat-informed planning, resilience building, and development of joint cyber assets across the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Amphibious Operations Doctrine
The Joint Doctrine for Amphibious Operations provides a framework for the coordination of land, sea, and air forces in conducting amphibious missions. It highlights the importance of interoperability, rapid response, and joint application of force to influence objectives in coastal and littoral zones.
Future Doctrinal Developments
General Chauhan has also initiated the development of several upcoming doctrines and primers in areas such as Military Space Operations, Special Forces, Airborne/Heliborne Operations, Integrated Logistics, and Multi-Domain Operations. These will serve as a common reference for effective joint planning and execution, while offering clarity and coherence in modern military strategy.
