CBI makes fresh arrest in Srinagar in 1989 Rubaiya Sayeed kidnapping case

Srinagar, Dec 01: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday arrested a man in connection with the Rubaiya Sayeed kidnapping case, sources said.

The arrested individual has been identified as Shafat Ahmad Shungloo, son of Saif-ud-Din, a resident of Hawal and presently putting up at Ishber Nishat, sources told news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC), adding that Shungloo was taken into custody by the CBI from Police Station Nishat.

They said the arrest comes as part of the agency’s ongoing proceedings in the 1989 abduction case, in which multiple accused have been examined in recent years as the trial continues before the designated court.
