CASO in Sunderbani

Rajouri, Feb 26: A massive Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched in the villages of Sunderbani sub-division areas of Rajouri in the Pir Panjal region after an incident of firing took place on Wednesday afternoon.

The firing occurred when an Army vehicle was passing through the Sunderbani-Malla road at Phull village, with suspicions that unidentified men might have fired at the vehicle from a nearby forest.

However, neither the Army nor the Police issued any official statement of this incident so far.

“No injuries were reported in the firing incident,” official sources said.

After the incident, the Police, Army, and CRPF launched a massive operation and cordoned off the area with senior officers of the forces rushing to the spot to lead the operation.

Notably, the area where the firing incident occurred is located on a road that connects to Line of Control (LoC) locations, official sources said.

However, they said that the village is situated in the hinterland, away from the LoC.

“The CASO is currently underway, with security forces combing the area to track any suspects who could be hiding in the forest areas,” official sources said.

It has also been learnt that the Army truck that was passing through the area when the firing incident occurred collided with the roadside tree and the vehicle was later removed from the site by recovery cranes.
