Car gutted in late-night fire incident at SMHS hospital parking in Srinagar

Srinagar, Jan 13: A Swift Dzire car was gutted in a fire incident at the parking area of SMHS Hospital in Srinagar late Monday night.

Officials said the incident was reported at around 11:05 pm, following which fire tenders from the Syed Hameed Pora Fire Station immediately rushed to the spot. On arrival, firefighters found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighting teams promptly launched operations to control the blaze. Locals present at the scene also extended assistance in the initial efforts to contain the fire. The coordinated response helped prevent the flames from spreading to nearby vehicles and structures in the busy hospital.

After sustained efforts, the fire was successfully brought under control and later fully extinguished. No injuries were reported in the incident, officials said.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the vehicle (DL9CR 7917) catching fire. [KNT]
