Can’t proceed with ‘No Confidence Motion’ of Lone, 2 PDP MLAs: Speaker
Jammu, Apr 9: Speaker Legislative Assembly Abdul Rahim Rather Wednesday ruled that the “no-confidence motion” against him (Speaker) moved by the Peoples Conference MLA Sajad Lone and two PDP MLAs could not be proceeded with as it did not fulfil requirement as per rules.
In the afternoon when the House reassembled after adjournment, the Speaker, in his ruling on the “No Confidence Motion”, said that it did not fulfil mandatory notice period of 14 days between the submission of notice and the date to be fixed by the Speaker to procure leave of House which meant that 23 members (which form quorum as per the existing rules) should support this motion for admission.
He also stated that the notice was not given under correct rule. “There is no Rule 215 (A). It is Rule 215 (1),” Speaker said.
