Cancer awareness talk organised in Jammu

Jammu,  Feb 5: A cancer awareness talk  was organised by Bharat Vikas Parishad in collaboration with Narayana Hospitals, Katra in  Jammu on World Cancer Day.

According to a press release,  the Taushi Branch (Shakha) of Bharat Vikas Parishad, J&K Prant, held the talk at Rehari Colony Jammu in collaboration with Narayana Hospitals, Katra .The talk was delivered by Dr Abhinav Chaudhary, senior consultant (surgical oncology) Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Narayana Super Specialty Hospital, Katra.

During his talk Dr Chaudhary sensitized the citizens present about the various means to prevent the onset of the disease and also about measures required to be taken by every citizen, especially those above the age of 40 years, for detecting its early symptoms and obtaining diagnosis for early and effective treatment. He specifically focused on breast, uterine and cervical cancer amongst women, and lung, throat and prostate cancer amongst men, which carried a high degree of prevalence. He asserted that in case of early detection, in its first or second stage, cancer can be completely cured

Dev Raj Sharma, Regional President, Bharat Vikas Parishad, in his address elaborated upon the ethos of Bharat Vikas Parishad which he disclosed, was a strictly non-political organisation dedicated to the development and growth of Bharat in all fields of human endeavor – cultural, social, academic, moral, national and spiritual – by promoting a sense of patriotism, national unity and integrity. He outlined the range of activities and programs undertaken by the Parishad across the nation and expressed satisfaction about the start made to undertake relevant awareness activities by the newly created Taushi Branch of Bharat Vikas Parishad in Jammu Prant.

Earlier, welcoming the participants,  Ajay Khajuria Founding President, Taushi branch of the Bharat Vikas Parishad, Jammu Prant, informed that the talk was organised to contribute in the efforts for developing a healthy society in keeping with the objective of Bharat Vikas Parishad to create a Swasth, Smarth and Sanskarit Bharat. He said that the founding members of the newly created Taushi Shakha, Jammu were committed to taking forward, in letter and spirit, the policies of Bharat Vikas Parishad which is based on the ideals and teachings of Swami Vivekananda ji.

Sharing his experience in overcoming the disease through sheer will power combined with proper medical treatment, Col (Retd) Man Singh Jamwal, Founding Member of Taushi Branch of Bharat Vikas Parishad emphasized that with a disciplined life, proper eating habits and spiritual orientation, ailments like Cancer can be kept at bay.

In his vote of thanks, Founding Sewa Pramukh of Taushi Branch of Bharat Vikas Parishad Sh Kuldesh Sharma, besides thanking all those present, also thanked Narayana Hospital, Katra for sparing the services of Dr Chaudhary and his team to join in the efforts to spread awareness about ways and means of maintaining good health amongst the citizens.
