Can NC guarantee dialogue with Pak will end terrorism in J&K: Raina

Jammu, Sep 01: J&K Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Ravinder Raina Sunday asked National Conference (NC) leadership if it could guarantee that entering into dialogue with Pakistan would end terrorism and bloodshed in Jammu and Kashmir.

Raina, joined by Union Minister and J&K Election Incharge, G Kishan Reddy; Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh; MP Jugal Kishore Sharma; former Deputy Chief Ministers, Kavinder Gupta and Dr Nirmal Singh and BJP Media Incharge Dr Pardeep Mahotra, was addressing a press conference here at Hotel Ritz.

“Can NC guarantee that there would be no bloodshed in J&K by Pakistan sponsored terrorists in J&K after holding talks with Pakistan and no innocent lives would be lost thereafter?” Raina posed a direct query, in response to a question about NC advocating for talks with Pakistan in its manifesto. “They (NC, Congress) believe in the politics of lies and deceit to serve their own interests while for BJP, the interests of country and its people reign supreme,” Raina said, while recalling the former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee’s Lahore Bus Yatra which was followed by Kargil war.

“We will suggest that NC should talk to the people of J&K and work for finding a solution to the people’s problems rather than insisting on talks with the neighbouring country. Holding talks with Pakistan or any other country is the prerogative of the central government and NC has no right to say that talks must be held with Pakistan,” the J&K BJP President said.

“The NC should reach out to the people of J&K and its leaders should talk to the people, listen to their problems and work for solving them rather than poking its nose in the foreign affairs, which is the sole prerogative of the Prime Minister and the central government,” Raina said.

However, he chose to downplay rumbling in BJP over ticket distribution stating that it (BJP) was having over 15 lakh registered voters. “Every political worker has his aspiration yet party mandate can be given to only one candidate. In any case, we will be able to sort out all these issues and form the government,” Raina said.

He also promised to address all issues of daily wagers, after coming to power.

Raina said that the opposition alliance be it Gupkar or be it INDI Alliance, would suffer crushing defeat in the Assembly elections in J&K like it faced in the Lok Sabha elections.

“The BJP government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ensured long lasting peace in J&K and unprecedented development has taken place here in the last 10 years of BJP rule,” he said.

The Gorkhas, the Valmikis Samaj, Gaddis, Sippies, Paharis, West Pak Refugees (WPR), other refugees and many other sections got justice under the Modi Government, he added.

“The BJP is getting overwhelming support from the people all across J&K and we will register an emphatic victory in the upcoming Assembly elections,” Raina said.

Earlier, giving momentum to its campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir, the party flagged off six vans for making people aware about BJP government’s achievements, various welfare schemes, development works, both completed and ongoing besides future programmes of the party.

The vans were flagged by Union Minister and J&K election Incharge, G Kishan Reddy from Hotel Ritz in presence of many senior leaders of the party.

These vans are equipped with high-tech audio and video systems, BJP’s campaigning material i.e pamphlets mentioning achievements, various welfare schemes, development works carried out in the ten years besides of BJP government’s future programmes.

These vans will cover each nook and corner of each Assembly segment going to polls in the first phase.
