GMS Gundkamal bids farewell to teacher Ghulam Nabi Sheikh
Government Middle School (GMS) Gundkamal in Langate organised a heartfelt farewell for teacher Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, who retired after 23 years of service.
Faculty members, students and local dignitaries attended the event to honour his dedication and role in shaping the institution.
Speakers recalled his commitment to nurturing young minds, improving school infrastructure and building an inclusive learning environment. Many shared personal anecdotes, describing him as a mentor who instilled discipline, integrity and hard work in his students.
JKTF elects new district president for Baramulla
The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) elected Peer Faizan as its district president for Baramulla during an election held at BHSS Baramulla.
Of the 143 votes polled, Faizan secured 123, defeating Peer Yaqoob Ahmad.
JKTF Chairman Muhammad Shafi Rather congratulated Faizan, who later vowed to prioritise employees’ welfare and address students’ concerns with “dedication and honesty.”
He urged all teacher forums to work collectively for the welfare of the teaching community and students.
Class work closed for kindergarten and elementary classes
Routine class work for kindergarten students closed on November 26, with schools up to the elementary level also shutting for winter break from Monday.
November 29 was the last working day for elementary classes across Kashmir. The government announced phase-wise winter vacations last week in view of the prevailing cold conditions in the Valley.
Headmaster GHSS Rampora Sopore given warm send-off
Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Rampora Sopore accorded an affectionate farewell to Headmaster Abdul Jalil on his superannuation.
A resident of Parampila Uri, Jalil joined the institution earlier this year, bringing stability to a school that had been without a permanent head since 2019.
Teachers credited him with transforming the academic atmosphere during his brief tenure. “Though his tenure was short, his contribution was remarkable,” a staff member said.
Principal GHSS Shopian retires after 30 years of service
Girls Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Shopian last week bid farewell to its Principal Parvaze Ahmad Bhat, who attained superannuation after nearly three decades of service in the School Education Department (SED).
Hailing from Shadab Karewa, Shopian, Bhat earned a reputation as one of the region’s most dedicated educationists, admired for his sincere approach, leadership and a teaching style defined by compassion and patience.
At an emotional farewell held at the institution, colleagues, students and well-wishers highlighted his professionalism, moral values and longstanding contribution to improving academic standards in the district.
CEO Kupwara Mehraj ud Din Shah superannuates
Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kupwara, Mehraj ud Din Shah, attained superannuation on November 30.
A farewell function was organised at BHSS Kupwara, attended by district officials, teachers and senior citizens.
In an emotional moment captured in a viral video, Shah was seen kissing the CEO’s chair, saying he never misused his authority throughout his 36 years of service.
Shah joined the department in 1989 as a teacher and later served as a Lecturer and Principal before being appointed CEO Kupwara earlier this year.
