Cabinet approves LG’s address to J&K Assembly
Srinagar, Feb 24: J&K Cabinet on Monday approved Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s address to be delivered by him on the first day of the budget session in the J&K Assembly.
A local news gathering agency KNO reported that the cabinet which met at the civil secretariat in Jammu under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah approved the LG’s address to the J&K Assembly on March 3.
“The cabinet met at 7 pm and lasted for nearly 80 minutes,” they said.
The LG’s address would outline the policies and roadmap of CM Omar Abdullah-led government.
As per the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, the LG would address the J&K Assembly at the commencement of the first session after each general election to the Legislative Assembly and at the commencement of the first session of each year.
The 43-day long budget session of the J&K Assembly would begin on March 3 with the LG’s address to the J&K Assembly.
This would be the second address of the LG to the J&K Assembly in the past four months.
On November 4, 2024, LG Sinha made a detailed address to the House, outlining the agenda and priorities of the government.
Sources said that several agenda items of different departments were also discussed during the meeting.
“The cabinet gave its go-ahead to the proposals of the Housing and Urban Development Department, Health, and Rural Development Department,” they said.
