Nagrota, Nov 06: Asserting that results of by-polls in Nagrota and Budgam assembly constituencies won’t have any impact on the government’s stability in J&K, Chief Minister Omar Adullah on Thursday called on the people to actively participate in the democratic process.

Making his maiden appearance in Nagrota to campaign for the National Conference candidate, the Chief Minister, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, “The election would have no effect on the present dispensation. This election is not aimed at choosing the government. It is already there and will remain there even after the polls are over.”

However, a sudden power cut disrupted the Chief Minister’s speech, which forced him to continue his address without using the microphone.

Meanwhile, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, speaking to reporters, said that every election holds significance for any political party. “Whether it’s a bye-election or a general election, both Nagrota and Budgam have been our strongholds. The people here have always supported the National Conference,” he said.

Wani expressed confidence in the party’s candidate, saying, “Our candidate, Madam Shamim, has a proven record of service and development during her tenure as BDC chairperson. We appeal to the people of Nagrota to elect her again and strengthen our mission of development.”

Responding to questions on dynasty politics, Wani said, “Those who talk about nepotism should look within. The BJP itself is unclear about its next leadership. There’s a huge difference between what they say and what they do.”

About the ‘Vande Mataram’ issue, Wani refrained from making a direct comment, saying, “You should ask those who raised it. We will discuss our stand when it comes to us".
