New Delhi, Feb 1: Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced two new schemes for Divyangjans while presenting the Union Budget 2026–27 in Parliament. The Finance Minister said the government’s vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas aims to ensure that every family, community and region gets equal access to opportunities and resources for meaningful participation in the country’s growth. As part of this vision, the following initiatives were announced for Divyangjans:

Divyangjan Kaushal Yojana: Under this scheme, Divyangjans will be provided customised and industry-relevant training in sectors such as Information Technology (IT), Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC), hospitality, and food and beverages. These sectors offer task-based and process-driven jobs that are well-suited for Divyangjans. The scheme aims to ensure dignified livelihood opportunities through specialised training tailored to different categories of disabilities.

Divyang Sahara Yojana: The scheme focuses on improving access to quality assistive devices for Divyangjans. The Budget proposes to support the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) to increase production, invest in research and development, and integrate artificial intelligence in assistive technologies. It also plans to strengthen PM Divyasha Kendras and set up Assistive Technology Marts as modern retail-style centres where Divyangjans and senior citizens can see, try and purchase assistive products. The government said these steps will help improve skills, independence and quality of life for Divyangjans across the country.
