Budgam's cycling champs gear up for national glory
Srinagar, July 1: The Khelo India cycling centre in Budgam is abuzz with activity as its talented cyclists prepare for the upcoming national championship. This centre has become a breeding ground for cycling excellence, with its athletes making waves in national-level competitions.
According to JKSC officials, the centre's impressive track record speaks volumes about its success. Cyclists from Budgam have proudly represented Jammu and Kashmir in the 36th and 37th National Games, showcasing their skills on a national platform. Their participation extended to the Khelo India Youth Games in both Haryana and Madhya Pradesh, further cementing their reputation as formidable competitors.
Three cyclists from the Budgam Centre recently clinched a total of eight medals at the All India Inter University Cycling Championship. This outstanding performance has not only brought glory to the centre but has also put Budgam on the map of India's cycling scene.
Behind this success story is Mohd Akbar Khan, an international cyclist who has been appointed as the centre's mentor under the scheme for past champion athletes. Khan's expertise and experience are proving invaluable in nurturing these young talents and pushing them towards excellence.
As the national championship approaches, the cyclists are leaving no stone unturned in their preparation. The air is thick with determination and excitement as they train rigorously, hoping to add more accolades to their already impressive collection.
