Srinagar, Nov 29: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul on Saturday said that the Budgam by-election had once again demonstrated a “notable shift in public sentiment” in favour of the BJP in Kashmir.

Chairing a key organisational review meeting in Srinagar to assess the party’s performance in the recently-concluded Budgam by-election and to chart out a roadmap aimed at further strengthening its grassroots presence in the Kashmir region, Koul said the outcome signalled increasing public trust in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Centre’s welfare and development initiative.

Koul credited the party’s improved performance to persistent efforts at the grassroots level, acknowledging the role of booth workers, mandal-level teams, and district committees.

He emphasised that the party’s growing acceptance in Kashmir was a result of consistent efforts to connect with people, listen to their concerns, and ensure timely redressal of grievances.

Koul stressed the need for continued strengthening of booth-level committees, enhanced public outreach, and ensuring that party workers remain approachable and active ahead of any future electoral contests in the region.

“Our cadre must stay ever ready to ensure the delivery of public welfare schemes to every deserving household. Reaching out to the needy and ensuring that benefits under PM Modi’s initiatives are delivered honestly and efficiently is our collective responsibility,” he said.

Speaking during the meeting, Muhammad Anwar Khan said the by-election results reflected a growing belief among the people of Kashmir that the BJP represents “stability, development, and transparent governance.”

He said that the party’s increased vote share and expanding presence in Budgam indicated a significant shift in the region’s political landscape.

The BJP leaders at the meeting unanimously stressed the importance of proactive engagement with the public, timely grievance redressal, and improved coordination within the party structure. Discussions also revolved around upcoming political challenges, the need for intensified grassroots campaigns, and strategies to consolidate gains made during recent electoral exercises.

The party leadership urged workers to remain committed to expanding outreach efforts, especially in remote and underserved areas, and to work with renewed vigour to further strengthen the BJP’s presence across Kashmir.
