BSNL to provide free upgradation of landlines into fibre mode in Kashmir
Srinagar, Feb 15: In its endeavour to provide hassle-free services to subscribers, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has announced to provide free upgradation of existing landlines into fibre mode in Kashmir.
“There is good news for our valued landline subscribers in Kashmir. We have rolled out a comprehensive scheme Copper to FTTH Conversion Mission Mode under which we will upgrade existing landlines into fibre mode,” GM BSNL (Kashmir) Arvind Panday told Greater Kashmir.
Elaborating, Panday said that the conversion will be done without any charges and will include Optical Network Terminal (ONT). “After conversion, our valued subscribers can avail hassle free data and voice facilities. Importantly subscribers can retain their old landline numbers,” he said.
Panday said that the fibre plan will start from Rs 299 in urban areas and 249 in rural areas in Kashmir. The subscribers can enjoy speeds up to 10 Mbps till 10GB without unlimited Data Download besides local and STD unlimited calls to any network.
“Existing landline services were based on copper wires which are either worn out or damaged. Now fibre is the modern and reliable mode of providing hassle-free telecommunication services. We are committed to serving our valued subscribers,” Panday added. Around 20,000 existing subscribers will be benefitted from the Copper to FTTH Conversion scheme in the valley.
BSNL PRO Masood Bala said BSNL is taking several steps to upgrade its services in Kashmir this year. He said the existing landline subscribers can contact respective sub-divisional engineers of BSNL in their respective areas.
