BSNL pushes 4G frontier in Gurez, Tulail to bridge Kashmir’s digital divide
Srinagar, June 25: As part of the Government of India’s flagship Indigenous 4G Saturation Project, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Kashmir is accelerating efforts to bring high-speed mobile connectivity to the most remote corners of the region.
As per the statement issued here, on June 22, 2025, Arvind Pandey, Principal General Manager, BSNL Kashmir, undertook a high-altitude inspection tour of Gurez and Tulail Valley—two of the most geographically isolated areas in North Kashmir—to assess the ground-level execution of the mission.
During the visit, Pandey reviewed the status of ongoing site installations, infrastructure readiness, and coordination with local stakeholders. He held on-site interactions with field officials, vendor teams, and community members, reaffirming BSNL’s commitment to delivering reliable mobile connectivity to every uncovered village.
"The 4G Saturation Project is a transformative step towards bridging the digital divide. It will empower citizens with access to digital services, e-governance, education, and online commerce," Pandey stated, expressing satisfaction with the current pace of progress.
So far, two sites—Khandyal and Forest Block—are operational, while work on the remaining five targeted sites (Bagtore, Zadgey, Purana Tulail, Baglinder, and Badwan) is advancing steadily. BSNL is actively addressing logistical and technical challenges in partnership with executing agencies to ensure timely commissioning.
The project is expected to significantly benefit not only the civilian population but also armed forces stationed in these rugged and hostile terrains, improving their communication with families and operational support.
In a strategic move to expand coverage along the border, Pandey also held a meeting with the Army Brigadier of Gurez and the DIG of BSF Bandipora. The discussion focused on installation of 4G towers at critical forward locations including Chaknala Bridge, Kashpar, Gujran, Chakwali, Anar, Highground, and Rajdhan Top. The meeting was described as “highly productive,” with BSNL reaffirming its readiness to provide robust connectivity to India’s security forces.
