Speaking at the Passing Out Parade at the Subsidiary Training Centre (STC), BSF, Humhama, Kashmir, IG Minz said the force continues to tackle evolving security challenges—from cross-border infiltration and narcotics trafficking to terrorism and internal militancy—with unmatched vigilance and professionalism.

“The BSF is not only protecting our borders—it is actively engaged in counter-insurgency and anti-terror operations with tremendous courage and professionalism,” IG Minz said.

The ceremony formally inducted 167 newly trained recruit constables (tradesmen) of Batch No. 44 into the BSF. With the snow-capped mountains of the Valley as a backdrop, these young men from across the country took their first step as Seema Praharis—Guardians of the Nation’s Borders.

The Passing Out Parade and Attestation Ceremony showcased the transformation of raw recruits into disciplined soldiers through 44 weeks of rigorous training. The parade, commanded by Recruit Constable/Barber Amit Chandel of ‘B’ Company, who was later named Best in Drill, demonstrated precision, cohesion, and morale, reflecting the hard work and dedication of the recruits and training staff.

“BSF is not only securing our territorial boundaries but has played a pivotal role in counter-insurgency operations and tackling foreign-sponsored terrorism with courage and conviction. In the ever-evolving landscape of national security, close coordination between agencies is vital—and BSF is fully prepared to take on these mammoth challenges with its modernised response systems and unwavering dedication.”

The 44-week intensive training programme at STC Humhama equipped the recruits to handle a wide range of security challenges. Training included border management, law and order, first aid, physical fitness, marksmanship, and tactical operations, ensuring a comprehensive transformation from civilians into capable Seema Praharis.

The event was attended by senior officers of the BSF, other security forces, and family members of the recruits, many of whom travelled long distances to witness their children don the uniform. For parents, it was a moment of immense pride.

Located in one of India’s most sensitive and strategically important regions, STC Kashmir plays a vital role in preparing BSF personnel for operations in difficult terrains, extreme weather, and conflict-prone zones. The Passing Out Parade marked not only the culmination of intensive training but also the beginning of the recruits’ journey in defending the nation with courage and dedication.
