Jammu, Feb 16: Border Security Force (BSF) has lodged a protest with the Pakistan Rangers for resorting to unprovoked firing on February 14 in R S Pura area of Jammu district.

A BSF spokesperson said that the protest was lodged during a flag meeting which held at Octroi Border Out Post in Suchetgarh on Thursday. “The meeting lasted half an hour in a cordial atmosphere where both the sides agreed to maintain peace and tranquility on the International Border,” he said.

On February 14, Pakistan Rangers, after a lull of over three months, had violated ceasefire by resorting to unprovoked firing in R S Pura area which was retaliated by BSF personnel in equal measure.

Earlier on November 9, 2023, a Border Security Force (BSF) Head Constable was killed in “unprovoked firing by Pakistan Rangers” in Ramgarh sector along the International Border in Samba district.

(M) leader and the president of J&K unit of CITU, M Y Tarigami, while leading the protesters at Hari Singh Park, accused the central government of not fulfilling its promises made to the farmers thus forcing them to adopt agitational path yet again.

“Instead of behaving in a dictatorial manner and using force against the protesting farmers, the government should concede their genuine demands related to MSP guarantee, loan waiver and labour laws.
